Places.

                                                            Optimistic

The open space (public space) right under the studio, which will be a gathering place for visitors to come together and chitchat before they enter the second place.

There is a bench provided, “resting” on the pool, which allows visitors to sit down, enjoy and appreciate the atmosphere underneath the studio and beside the 2nd place. The bench appear to be floating on top of the pool. In fact, they will also see the water is flowing into the 2nd place when they’re sited on the bench.

This space gives an emotion of optimistic as 2 architecture beside it seems to collide towards one another, however they are sharing the same language and having a strong connection between 2. Even though it looks like pressing down, however, there still have a bright opening overhead.

Depression

The 2nd place is the place of depression. One walk in through the stepping stone “floating” on the pool, will tend to lower their heads when walk all the way down. The basement is narrow and small, it gives a senese of crowdedness and oppression.

Ambitious

Finally the main space, studio, ambitious. It’s designed in the way that its pointing towards the highway to the Malaysia where Japanese troops first attacked Singapore. It speaks about the fighting spirit of the Wong aii wen as she is brave enough to take up the challenge to work as an undercover in the Japanese company. Visitors will be able to view the whole site outside the studio without being blocked by the buildings.
